For me it means that as Mazlow once articulated — self actualization is the highest of human achievements. But can only be achieved in concert with others.

Merleau-Ponty discovered that transcendence—the ability to inquire, reform, and pass on from our dogmas— (which ability is sometimes called soul or spirituality) is a condition of corporal human existence as is empathy or perception of other persons as agents of our common condition.

We can imagine and see beyond even livability and therefore economics and certainly beyond capitalism. The early Marx was pointing that way but Marx and Marxists erred by trying to make a scientific theory of it all as indicated by Hegel.

I think that as long as our human organism attempts through organizing with each other to do better, we have a higher standard beyond in morality and politics. But only if we so choose personally and collectively to achieve and continue our human existence.
