I agree that our world view probably does not matter to the cosmos. But I do hold that our worldview of the cosmos matters to us. If we have a role in bringing meaning to the world and the things of the universe including ourselves through our creative symbolic activity, then we have the faith that it is worth doing just that through science, art, poetry, mythology. What is the basis of that worldview? Will. We choose it by living and acting with others to discover and fabricate meaning in our world.
(BTW I say “probably” in my first sentence. If I choose to live the spirituality of the Celtic and many indigenous traditions, I may choose to find spirit or energy in matter. And then it may just be important to the cosmos. Then Our emerging and developing consciousness or spirit matters to matter. )
