I find this a sad and misleading article. I suggest a reading of Jonathan Rauch’s book Cross Purposes on the Judeo-Christian values and their relation to the values of American liberty and justice for all.

Most Christian, Jewish, Unitarian, Buddhist, and, yes, Islamic congregations accept and promote the key values of freedom and human happiness and through non-profit and non-evangelical organizations to work for charitable and educational purposes with public and private as part of their mission. They hire people despite their religious affiliations and without pushing a religious doctrine and who recognize that all people whatever their beliefs are of dignity and value, and have rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Are you suggesting that these rights are too liberal or leftist and that only people who believe that they are better than people in need should be helped by the public.

Cathie Charities, Lutheran Housing Services, Jewish Family Services, with whom I worked and supported, are rip offs of our taxes, certainly not as much as Boing and Space X.
