I would call evolution by natural selection not a theory itself because it really cannot be falsified, but more a metatheory or paradigm by which theories that can be tested can be developed for ( and thereby satisfied as true) until a new more inclusive hypothesis can be tested through experiencial evidence.

Also If we accept the body-soul, conscousness-object, material-spiritual interaction worldview or paradigm, I think we can combine the evolution of living organisms with the development of consciousness or mind—the way Teilhard de Chardin did connecting science with spirituality.

Phenomenology discusses the invisible (pre-objective) and visible (objective) in experience. “Natural selection” is an allegorical metatheory in science for biological development and diversity for which Darwin collected much evidence, and eventually the evidence of genes. But the background to all objective science in the universe is the sense of transcending consciousness which is often expressed in mythic and religious language.

I agree therefore with the last paragraph about the mythic world view. Herbert Butterfield and many other historians of science indicated the importance of new paradigms that made the scientific revolution possible without needing to accept certainty or absolutes.
