Thanks for these insights. I just finished "Caste" by Wilkerson who convinced me that caste is a concept deeper than, by being a base for, class. Caste is a spirituality, a structure of the communal psyche, that grounds racism and one's place in the hierarchy. Nevertheless I think that there is a progressive spirituality or, better, a capacity for spirituality to progress in human existence beyond the tribal, hierarchic myth. I read Teilhard and Maslow that way.
